Hair Colouring in Istanbul

Hair Colouring in Istanbul

Hair colouring can refresh a faded shade, blend or cover grey hair, change the overall tone or create a more noticeable transformation. The result depends on more than the colour selected from a chart. The natural base, previous dye or bleach, hair condition and the amount of lightening required all influence what can be achieved.

At Luxus Hair Group, each hair colouring service begins with an assessment of the current colour, previous treatments and the result the client would like to achieve. The formula and application stages are then planned according to the hair’s length, density, strength and existing colour layers.

How Is Hair Colour Planned?

The same colour formula can develop differently depending on the natural base, previous colour and condition of the hair.

Before the service, the colourist considers whether the hair is natural, previously dyed, bleached or treated with henna or plant-based colour. Grey percentage, hair density, elasticity and the preferred warm, cool or neutral finish are also taken into account.

Reference images can help communicate the desired direction, but the final shade must be adapted to the existing base. A colour shown on naturally light hair may require a different process when applied to dark or previously coloured hair.

When a significant change is requested, the colourist also assesses whether the target can be reached safely in one appointment or should be planned gradually.

Root Colour and Grey Coverage

Root colour is used to blend new growth with the existing lengths or cover visible grey hair.

The formula is selected according to the natural base, grey percentage and preferred level of coverage. Some clients want a more complete result, while others prefer softer grey blending that creates a less defined regrowth line.

The aim is to maintain consistency between the roots and previously coloured hair without applying unnecessary permanent colour through the lengths at every appointment.

Full Colour and Colour Refresh

Full hair colour may be chosen to refresh faded lengths, even out an inconsistent shade or move to a different overall tone.

Permanent colour does not always need to be applied from roots to ends at every visit. When the mid-lengths and ends already contain colour, the roots may be treated separately while the remaining hair is refreshed with a toner or gloss.

This approach can help reduce unnecessary colour build-up and allows the formula to be adapted to different areas of the hair.

Colour Correction

Colour correction may be required when the hair contains uneven bands, unwanted warmth, excessive darkness or an unexpected result from a previous application.

The process can include balancing orange or yellow tones, blending darker and lighter areas, correcting box dye or gradually moving from a dark shade to a lighter result.

Colour correction does not follow one standard formula. The number of stages depends on the existing pigment, previous lightening and the condition of the hair.

Some corrections cannot be completed in a single appointment. When a rapid transformation would place excessive stress on the hair, a gradual colour plan is the more appropriate option.

Toner and Hair Gloss

Toner and gloss services are used to refine or refresh hair that is already at a suitable level of lightness.

They may help neutralise yellow or orange undertones, restore a faded shade, create a warmer or cooler finish and improve the consistency of balayage or highlighted sections.

Toner does not make dark hair significantly lighter. When the target shade is lighter than the existing base, a separate lightening stage may be required.

A gloss can also be considered when the main aim is to refresh the tone and improve the overall shine without repeating a full permanent colour application.

Lightening, Highlights and Balayage

Bleach is not required for every hair colouring service. A shade close to the current colour, or darker than it, may often be achieved without intensive lightening.

When the target is significantly lighter, the amount of lightening depends on the natural base, previous colour layers, hair strength and the level of brightness requested.

Highlights place lighter sections through selected areas of the hair. Ombre and sombre create different levels of transition between darker roots and lighter lengths, while balayage uses a softer placement designed around the natural movement of the hair.

Clients looking specifically for a soft root transition, face-framing brightness or a customised lightening pattern can review the dedicated balayage service.

Very dark, heavily coloured or uneven hair may require more than one appointment before a lighter and more balanced result can be achieved.

Professional Colour Products

Luxus Hair Group works with professional colour ranges that may include Schwarzkopf IGORA and L’Oréal INOA.

The product and formula are selected according to the target shade, previous treatments and the current condition of the hair. The same range is not automatically used for every client or every colour service.

Olaplex support or Davines colour care may also be considered when additional care is needed during or after colouring. Whether these products are included in the selected service or booked separately is clarified before the appointment.

Hair Colouring Aftercare

Coloured and lightened hair may require more moisture and protection than untreated hair.

Using products designed for colour-treated hair, avoiding very hot water and applying heat protection before styling can help maintain the appearance of the shade. Strong sun, sea water and chlorinated pool water may also affect both tone and condition.

Toner or gloss can be refreshed as the colour begins to change. When the hair feels dry, rough or difficult to manage after lightening, an appropriate professional hair treatment may also be considered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can dark hair be changed to a light colour in one appointment?

It depends on the natural base, previous dye or bleach and the current strength of the hair. Some changes can be completed in one appointment, while others require a gradual lightening plan.

Can grey hair be blended instead of fully covered?

Yes. Full grey coverage and softer grey blending are different options. The most suitable approach depends on the natural colour, grey percentage and preferred regrowth appearance.

Can previously coloured hair be changed to a different shade?

Usually, but the process depends on the existing pigment and treatment history. Dark box dye, henna, uneven colour or previous bleach may limit what can be achieved safely in one session.

Before Your Appointment

Share your current hair colour, previous dye or bleach history and a reference image of the shade you are considering.

Henna, plant-based colour, dark box dye, previous colour correction and intensive lightening should always be mentioned. These factors can affect the formula, appointment duration, number of stages and final price.
