How Is a Lash Lift Planned?

Before the treatment begins, the natural lashes are assessed for length, density, direction and overall condition.

The silicone shield is chosen according to the lash length and preferred level of lift. A smaller shield may create a stronger curve, while a larger shield can produce a softer result.

Long, straight lashes may show a more noticeable change. Very short or sparse lashes can still be lifted, although the finished effect may be more subtle.

A lash lift does not make the eyelashes physically longer. It reveals more of their existing length by lifting lashes that naturally sit straight or point downwards.

How the Treatment Works

The eye area and lashes are cleaned before a suitable silicone shield is positioned on the eyelid. The natural lashes are then arranged over the shield and lifting products are applied for controlled periods.

Processing time is adjusted according to the thickness and condition of the lashes. The products should remain on the lashes and should not come into contact with the eyes.

Lash tinting may be added when a darker and more defined appearance is preferred. After the products are removed, the final curl and separation are checked before aftercare instructions are provided.

Lash Lift or Eyelash Extensions?

A lash lift works only with the client’s natural eyelashes. It changes the direction and curve of the existing lashes without adding fibres.

Eyelash extensions add length, density and volume by attaching extensions to the natural lashes. They may be more suitable for clients who want a fuller or more visible result.

A lash lift may be preferred by clients who want a lighter appearance, do not want added fibres and mainly want curl and definition. Clients looking for additional length or volume may prefer eyelash extensions.

How Long Does the Result Last?

The lift gradually softens as the natural eyelashes grow and renew.

How long the result remains visible depends on the natural lash cycle, lash texture, aftercare and the product system used during the treatment. Frequent rubbing, steam, heat and heavy oil-based products around the eyes may also affect the appearance.

There is no single fixed duration that applies to every client.

Aftercare

The lashes need time to settle into their new shape after the treatment.

Clients may be advised to keep the eye area away from water and steam for the period specified during the appointment. Rubbing the eyes and using an eyelash curler should also be avoided during the initial aftercare period.

The eye area should be cleaned gently. Mascara and oil-based products can be used according to the instructions provided for the product system applied.

When Should the Treatment Be Postponed?

A lash lift may need to be delayed when there is an active eye infection, a stye, significant irritation or an open wound around the eyelid.

The treatment may also be unsuitable immediately after eye surgery or when the natural lashes are extremely weak or damaged.

Known allergies to lash products should be mentioned before booking. Clients with an ongoing eye condition should seek medical advice before receiving a cosmetic treatment around the eyes.
